Arrival La Palma

La Palma, also known as "Isla Bonita", is one of the beautiful Canary Islands and a popular travel destination for nature lovers and hikers. The island offers a rich variety of landscapes, from dense laurel forests to breathtaking volcanic landscapes.

 

Getting to La Palma is often not easy, because the airlines keep throwing other routes onto the market and sometimes ignore La Palma or arbitrarily increase the prices, but If you plan early, you have a good chance of getting a cheap flight.

The fastest and most common way to get to La Palma is by plane. La Palma Airport, also known as Santa Cruz de La Palma Airport (SPC), receives domestic and international flights.

You can book flights from most major European airports. The flight time from Madrid to La Palma is approximately 2.5 hours. From Germany to La Palma the Flight time is around 4 hours. Once you arrive at the airport, various transportation options are available to reach your destination on the island.

Flights to every other Canary Island and one are also possible Onward flight with the “Island Hoppers”Binter Canarias" and "Canaryfly" good option if flight prices are very high again.

Arrival by ferry

If you prefer a longer and scenic trip, you can also take the Ferry to La Palma. There are ferry connections from Cádiz or Huelva that go directly to Tenerife. The crossing can take between 40 and 45 hours depending on the departure point. This option is good for travelers who also want to bring their own vehicles to the island.

The ferries from mainland Spain to La Palma are usually not directly, as La Palma is one of the westernmost Canary Islands and the distance to the mainland is quite large. Most ferry connections from Spain to the Canary Islands concentrate on the more easterly islands such as Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Lanzarote.
